My All-Time Favorite Superfood Article

I had to share this superfood article with you all, 41 Superfoods, Ranked By How Healthy They Are! I re-read this piece every time I hit a salad or green smoothie rut. This Time article ranks 41 superfoods by how healthy they are. When I first read this article I immediately asked myself... What is classified as β€œhealthy”? "Jennifer Di Noia, associate professor of sociology at William Paterson University, focused on 17 nutrients considered by the food experts at the United Nations and the Institute of Medicine to be important to good health and to lowering risk of heart disease and cancer: potassium, fiber, protein, calcium, iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, zinc, and vitamins A, B6, B12, C, D, E, and K."  The article continues to rank 41 superfoods based on the 17 nutrients above.

Some foods that made the list shocked me while others did not. What I love most is that romaine lettuce has a higher nutrient density than kale! Go figure!! After reading this article I now always buy watercress, I throw the tops of my beets (beet greens) into my smoothies and have recently started to buy Chinese cabbage. Make sure you purchase Chinese cabbage (91.99 nutrient score) not regular cabbage (24.51). Look at the difference in those nutrient scores!

Watercress- highest nutrient density score!

This article has changed my salad and juice game for the better. It has helped me expand my horizon at the farmers market, at the produce section in the grocery store, and when I buy cold pressed juices. I hope it inspires you to do the same!

As always, please email me with questions!
