I spent most of September bouncing from city to city and hotel to hotel. I was, however, able to sleep in my own bed for 5 nights, a definite highlight during baseball season! There really is nothing better than sleeping in ones own bed. I traveled to Colorado Springs, Roseville, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, San Diego, Chicago, Milwaukee, Dallas, and Denver. Whoa now that’s a mouth full. I still managed to sweat at least once a day on each of these trips. Sometimes that meant walking Chicago’s Michigan Avenue while shopping in my workout attire! You know… a girl’s got to do what a girl’s got to do. Check out my September summary below!
Run - 16 runs both outside & on the treadmill. The bulk of my sweating this month came from running! I am following a 15-week Marathon Training Plan (no marathon is booked yet). What I love about this training guide is the scheduled days off. These days have saved my legs and my psyche. I often spend the “rest days” sweating some other way, like a power walk, an easy elliptical session, or weight training (usually a Kayla Itsines 28-minute workout). I logged 106.5 miles this month from following this running guide. My focus has been less on mileage and pace and more on time spent on my feet. I have never felt better. I am taking marathon training one step at a time and I don’t think I have ever enjoyed running more. I LOVE listening to my Skyfit App while out on my long runs. The app gives me the feeling of being in a group setting, yet I am outdoors running alone. If you haven’t already checked out Skyfit, I encourage you to give their 7-day free trial a try!
Walk - 3 walks both outside & on the treadmill. On days I wasn’t running (which wasn’t many), I got my cardio in by either walking or on the elliptical. My longest walk was cruising the city of Chicago with my parents. We walked nearly 8 miles exploring the beautiful city! Case in point, my photos below!
OTF -3 classes. I sadly had to put my OTF membership on hold this month. I knew getting to classes on the road would be tough. I did pay a drop in rate three times though. I took 1 class in CO Springs, 1 class in Roseville, and 1 class in Long Beach. I am looking forward to getting back to my favorite studio once we settle in for the off-season back in Northern California!
Corepower Yoga - 2 classes. While I was in Roseville for 5 days I decided to pop into the new Corepower Studio at the Fountains. It felt great to be back on my mat! I did the ever so popular yoga sculpt class as well as one of their C2 classes. The heated yoga sculpt class tested both my strength and endurance. While the weights were light, my arms and core were burning. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Vinyasa style C2 yoga class. The instructor was passionate and knowledgeable, which was super refreshing after not being on my mat in a while.
Kayla Itsines BBG - 10 workouts. My favorite strength training workouts on the road are the Kayla Itsines 28-minute BBG workouts. I stuck mainly to the legs, abs, and cardio days, although I did add pushups and tricep dips to my routine now and then. I generally did these workouts 2-3 times a week and occasionally would couple one of my shorter run days with a BBG workout as well. If you haven’t heard of the BBG saga, head over to Kayla’s Instagram to see what the hype is all about!
